About the juror
Kenise Barnes is the founder and director of Kenise Barnes Fine Art, a contemporary art gallery dedicated to artists whose work explores materiality, process, and conceptual rigor. With a curatorial focus on innovative practices—including textile-based work, abstraction, and cross-disciplinary experimentation—Barnes champions artists who push the boundaries of traditional media. The gallery actively places work in private and corporate collections and collaborates with institutions, designers, and advisors to expand the reach of its artists.
Barnes is known for her discerning eye, collaborative approach, and commitment to fostering long-term relationships with artists and collectors alike. Her programming reflects a belief in art as both an intellectual pursuit and a deeply human exchange—where material, meaning, and maker converge.
