Format

  • Open to members of WAAM whose last names begin with letters A through F
  • Size limit 15 x 15” framed, 24” x 24" x 24" for sculpture
  • There is no predetermined theme—all work is eligible
  • All artwork must be clean, framed and ready to hang. (no sawtooth hangers, or fishline)
  • All work must be for sale
  • You may not submit artwork that was accepted into a previous juried group show.
  • Artists will submit up to 1 jpg/png/mp3/mov file. All media are welcome
  • You must have means to transport the work to WAAM
  • Artists receive 60% of sales during the run of the exhibition. WAAM retains 40% of sales

Artists (Members Only) and Collectors please consider donating a work on paper to our Paper Unframed 2024 Exhibition & Auction. You must be a member of WAAM and live within 50 miles of Woodstock to participate. Artwork will be promoted to an international audience of art collectors in this exhibition & online sale. 

• Artwork on paper, any size under 16 x 20 inches (paper size) Watercolor, printmaking, drawing and Yupo paper are fine. If you have a questions, please email info@woodstockart.org with Subject: Paper Unframed 2024

• Any two-dimensional media accepted: including watercolor, drawing, oil, acrylic, collage, ink, pastels, flashe, printmaking, photography, rubbings, crayon… Work should be submitted UNFRAMED. Artwork will be stored and shipped flat in sleeves

• Artists may drop off their piece at the front desk during WAAM’s regularly scheduled work hours, Tuesday-Friday 10-5pm and Saturday-Sunday, 12-5 pm OR ship your artwork to the WAAM, 28 Tinker Street, Woodstock, NY 12498. Drop-off by September 13th at 5:00pm. Late work cannot be accepted. Please print the artist’s name and the title of the artwork on the back in pencil. 

• ONLY ONE WORK PER ARTIST WILL BE ACCEPTED

• Artwork will be sold online for at least $100. These are full donations to WAAM. Any artwork unsold may be picked up from WAAM after the close of the auction. WAAM has the right to sell donated work still in its possession for a price lower than $100 after the close of the sale. Thank you for your generosity!

WAAM Members Studio Tour is an opportunity for all members to share their working process and body of work with the public within the setting of their personal studios. This is an unjuried opportunity. All applicants whose facilities meet our basic requirements will be accepted.

2024 Tour dates and hours are September 28-29, 10am to 5pm. 

APPLICATION PROCESS VIA SUBMITTABLE

Application dates: May 1-August 15

Deadline: August 15th at 11:59 pm

Fee: $75 fee includes two days of event; a lawn sign; marketing and promotion including an Artists' Studio Tour Map and webpage, as well as social media posts, press listings and editorials

Criteria: You must maintain a working studio within the 50-mile radius of Woodstock, NY. Your studio may be freestanding or within your home or garage. You may share your space with another artist. The host must pay in full. Include both names in the submission.

Categories: Fine Art, Paintings, Photography, Prints, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Jewelry, Ceramics, Metal, Textile, Woodcraft and Glass. Commercially manufactured items, agents, and dealers will not be considered.

  • Physical address of studio
  • Website and social media (optional)
  • Upload 2 jpeg images of your studio including an exterior and interior photo
  • Upload 3 jpeg images of the kind of work that will be on view

ABOUT PARTICIPATING: 

Hours: Artists must be present in the studio during event hours

Parking and safety: Studio must have parking on-site or street parking and be safe for entry

Sales and Tax: If you sell art through the studio visit you are responsible for processing sales and collecting/reporting NY State sales tax (8% in Ulster County). There is no commission to WAAM.

Security and Liability WAAM is not liable for loss, theft or damage of any kind.

WAAM Open Juried - Water: Source of Life, October 25 - November 17, 2024

Reception: Saturday, October 26, 2024, 4-6 PM

Water: Source of Life invites a broad range of artists who approach the theme of water through representational, abstract or conceptual techniques. From landscapes of regionally based bodies of water to activist art about water scarcity and conservation, this exhibition tells the story of how water runs through us literally and figuratively. Chosen artwork will examine our relationship to water from its functional use to its spiritual purpose in our lives.

Brief Artist Statement (300 - 500 words) (optional)

  • Artwork must be ready to install with appropriate hardware
  • Video artists may submit one text document with up to 1 links to files to be reviewed. Please provide title, date, running time and retail price for each video.
  • All media will be considered. Submissions can range from, (but aren’t limited to), painting, sculpture, video, photography, drawing, sound and music. There are no size restrictions.
  • Artists must be able to transport or ship work to WAAM. Shipped work must contain a prepaid return label.
  • All work should be in good condition and ready to hang or install
  • Any special installation needs must be supplied by the artist for the duration of the show and should be noted in their submission.
  • All work must be the original conception and execution of the artist listed. No reproductions.
  • WAAM reserves the right to reject works that do not comply with these guidelines or are otherwise found to be unsuitable for display.
  • WAAM takes a 40% commission on sales in support of its programs. Artists should consider this when pricing submitted work. Work submitted must be for sale.
  •  Application fee for non-members: $35. Members apply for free. All submissions are welcomed.

About the Jurors

Daniel Aycock is the Director of Front Room Gallery, which he founded in 1999 in New York.  Daniel Aycock has been a reviewer at the New York Times Photo review; Association of Media Photographers (ASMP), NY; School of Visual Arts (SVA), NY; International Studio Curatorial Project (ISCP), NY; FotoFest, TX; Palm Beach Photo review, CA, and many others. He has also spoken on panels for Fotofest and Photoville and others. Daniel Aycock has curated exhibitions internationally at universities, museums and artist’s residencies. In 2001, Aycock started WAGMAG, Brooklyn Art Guide, a monthly printed publication listing all of the arts institutions in Brooklyn, New York. Aycock was also a founding member of Fountain Art Fair, and ARTfront, Inc.  He received his BFA in Photography from Texas Tech University and his Master’s Degree from the School of Visual Arts (SVA).  HIs curatorial focus is on conceptual artwork and contemporary fine art photography.

Kathleen Vance is the Director of the Front Room Gallery in New York (founded in 1999).  Vance has curated exhibitions nationally and internationally, has been the invited guest juror/critic for Burlington's South End Art Hop, ASMP (Association of Media Photographers, NY), Photo Regional at Collar Works, and curated and commissioned artworks for the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Vance has been a guest speaker at the Bruce Museum, College Art Association Conference, Hillwood Art Museum, Children’s Museum of Art, Brandywine River Museum, Czech Center, among other institutions and events. As an officer in the Sculptors guild and the Williamsburg Gallery Association, she has organized public art installations, festivals and exhibitions.  From her ten years of experience in the interior design industry she has developed a personal approach to artwork placements, commissions and advisements.   Vance is board member of ARTfront, Inc. and is an advisor with Upward and Associates.  Her curatorial focus is on environmental conservation, which is informed by her work as a professional artist.
